Queenofthecrop’s Blog

Queen of the Crop’s weekly Blog

It’s been a long time since I left you…..

I know, I know, I know!
A weh yuh di deh? Where have you been? What’s been crackalacking? You must be saying, or not. I know guys. I missed you too.

To be honest I’ve been extremely busy, ill, tired and lazy to even think about writing a blog. Actually, though, I wanted to still rep Michael Jackson and keep my blog of him still up there. And Nathan (Director of RDCJ) was on my case to get it done, so pressure from all angles. Anyhow, I’m back now and ready to talk about things good and bad in the entertainment world.

Well I won’t start from the past month, that’s long, and I’ve missed so much since my last blog (June ‘09), so ill start from what’s been happening over the past few weeks.

I’ve got to start with the splendid and most successful Real Deal Comedy Jam (RDCJ) tour – the September tour thus far.
The RDCJ was an electrifying hit in London, Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester featuring some of the finest current and future comedians around to-date: Tony Woods, Tony Roberts, Eddie Kadi, Kevin J, and never least, Kat B.
I had so much fun, but it was very hard work making it a success. Its not all fun and games, you know. Yet I love it all the same.
So thank you all once again for those who came out to support the tour. It’s because of you why we are the UK’s no.1 urban stand-up comedy show – period!!!!
If you want to know the good, the bad and the ugly that went on the September tour read Nathan’s blog here. I won’t reveal my say on what went on ’cause what happens on tour stays on tour;)

It looks like Chris Brown is on the come back. He’s currently got a banging new single from his forthcoming album, Graffiti, featuring Lil’ Wayne called, “I Can Transform Ya,” produced by super hit beat maker Swizz Beatz.
I’m pleased he is back to what he does best. We can only wait and see if his latest offering is a hit or miss. What do you think? Do you think he can salvage his career?

As we’re on the subject of Chris Brown, you all need to check out hilarious comedian Oskamill’s YouTube channel. He has one of the best TV stations on YouTube, which has numerous video spoofs on artists, such as Chris Brown, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne and more. One of my fav’s is the spoof to Jay-Z’s song “Run This Town.” The video’s about Rihanna and crew searching for Chris. He does a great impersonation physically and vocally of Jay-Z and Kanye West down to the tee. Fu-un-nyyyy!!! Click here to watch them, and also add him to you YouTube too.

Oh, oh, oh, I’ve got to talk about Kanye West’s performance at the 2009 VMA’s, even though its timmmmmmee ago. All I want to say is if that were me the award would have been whacked on his chin. Then I’d say, “There’s your front page spread you’ve been searching for, you bitch!” Just wanted that off my chest. Lol. I love him though – musically.

So what did you all think of the MOBO’s? Is it a NO-BO-selecta or a YO-BO-selecta?
I watched it (was supposed to have been there, long story, but ill get to what I did do instead later) with a positive note for once.
Normally, I am mostly disappointed with the set-up and organisation of the event, which maybe put down to lack of support and/or possible investors strict guidelines or their interference, even though that’s no excuse, but it is what it is. Anyway, the pluses for me were the the wonderful presenting skills from Reggie Yates, lthe ocation and venue. It was a very good look coming out of London and moving to Scotland. The Scottish are the most friendly and welcoming people you’ll meet in the UK. The crowd/fans showed that.

The stage set-up was good, it added that glamour, star-studded music award factor, which it has always lacked. And… Emmmmm… I can’t think, that’s it. I felt they copied too much of other awards ceremonies, like the VMA’s and BET, when the whole idea is to be individual. Why pay someone to organise and event if all they are going to do is imitate other events. Don’t get me wrong everyone copies now and then. But there is copying ideas blatantly and copying ideas to evolve. They could have done much, much better than that. They should have called me to organise the event. I’m being serious.

Also what was up with the cheap MOBO stand and behind the scenes footage? The MOBO stand looked like they got a local primary school to conjure it up. Backstage looked like the back of a factory – cold and damp looking. It looked dry as hell. It did not have that exclusive look of, ‘I so wish I was there to hang with the acts.’ More like ‘when can we get out of here?’

The performances weren’t bad, though. I think that’s what salvaged the night, only just. My favourite of the night was Chipmunk. He is destined for BIG things. I look forward to seeing how his career progresses.

As for winners and losers, I was not pleased with some of the choices. Like JLS winning best song over Chipmunk. What!!!?? I’m not hating on them, as I am very pleased for their success and hope it continues. To me they are just good, mediocre, and not great, that’s all – my opinion. And what about Titchy Stryder and Dizzie Rascal winning nothing! Come on now! And I soooo wanted Donaeo to win something. All I will say is music industry politics. However, i am very pleased for N-Dubz. Always knew they would make it big mainstream. They just needed the bigger heads to invest in them, as they did all the real grind work themselves. They are damn hard workers and know the business side of the entertainment industry. From day dot, they wrote and produced their songs releasing it on their own label. Look who’s reaping the dividends now, eh. Keep shining guys. In fact to all UK British Black/Urban acts. C’est Magnifique!

I’ve skipped through scrutinising most of it, as I got bored and almost scared to death half way threw it. Someone please tell me what or whom the hell was that dunduss, ginger hair, twis mout (speaking in patois), presenting the Michael Jackson (R.I.P) tribute? Oh, I forgot Lie-toya Jackson. I’m not going to waste my typing time writing about what I think about her, I know you all think the same.
Besides that not bad. A good look for the event was it being aired on BBC1 and BBC3. We can only wait and see what the MOBO’s has in store for us next year.

Whilst the MOBO’s was on in Scotland, I was in Scotland too celebrating my birthday. I wanted to try something different from the norm, like partying. Been there, done that. So I was gratefully treated to a luxurious 2 day VIP spa break at the Peebles Hydro Hotel, which included each day 3 spa treatments, champagne and breakfast, lunch, 4 course meal, use of all spa facilities, etc, etc. The fresh air, the scenery and the people alone made the stay more enjoyable. Totally sublime. After my experience I felt so revitalised. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift.
All I can say if you haven’t heard/been to this place, you need to go whenever you get time off. If you want the indulgence where you’ll enjoy the life of the rich, then this is the place you need to be to get away from it all. Let me know what you think if you do go.

Only 3 months to go before the year-ends. But it’s not too late to see the Real Deal Comedy Jam’s final tour of the year. That’s right, you thought we were gone, huh!? Well blaaah! we are back to put the sparkle and laughter to the festive season. The year wouldn’t have ended with a bang otherwise. Like P-Diddy says, “we wont stop, can’t stop.” This show is going to be like no other RDCJ tour before, memba I told yah! (Why do I talk slang, ‘cause anyone who knows me would laugh at me saying that. To me, it reads better when i am trying to express emphasis it what i am saying, you get me. lol).

So put in your diary and get your ticket(s) earlier for the December tour, which kicks off on Sun 27th Dec @ Colston Hall, Bristol, Mon 28th Dec @ The Town Hall, Birmingham, Tues 29th Dec @ Sway, London and hopefully in Manchester @ RNCM (date TBC).
Ill be counting down the days to the tour (81 days to be exact) and to a year I have never seen fly by so quickly. That’s why there is no time for skylarking, people. Stop talking about doing this and that. Just do it, and then you can talk it!

And on that note I’ve got to go and complete the many tasks I have for today. But before I do, take look at the photograph, not picture, below that I took from my suite at Peebles Hydro. I just had to lift my head from the pillow and that’s what I would see. Enjoy!

See you in a week or two.

Keep shining!!

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MICHAEL ‘THE KING OF MUSIC’ JACKSON

Michael_Jackson_King_of_Music

I cannot believe I have to write this… R.I.P. Michael Jackson.
The world mourned on Thursday 25th June 2009 the unexpected death of ‘The King of Music Michael Jackson.
When I heard this disturbing news, which is slowly sinking in that it is real, I was on the road with my cousin testing her new Mercedes AMG 6.3 V8, when I arrived home and saw over 20 miss calls on both phones. I thought why am I so popular this time of night (it was about 11:30pm when I got home). My Mummy called me about 11:45pm to tell me the news. I immediately felt sick, literally. My stomach was churning. Even the next day I had to force myself to eat cornmeal porridge. I was still in denial. As I watched the news report it did not seem real. It was though I was watching a movie. It just could not be real I kept telling myself.

To describe my overall feeling was that music was dead. I felt my childhood and adolescence memories had been wiped away. You see, Michael was the artist that anytime I heard his music it brought back memories of joy. I have never heard his songs play without dancing – NEVER! Now I am finding it hard to listen to his music because it will make me cry, which I haven’t done yet. I feel wants his funeral takes place I will be shedding tears.

Why Michael Jackson is ‘The King of Music’ – PERIOD!
He has influenced generations of people. For example, there have been great singers in the past that my parents and grandparents know of that I don’t. Yet with Michael, everyone knows the name Michael Jackson. You could be in China and not speak the language yet say ‘Michael Jackson’ and they will understand. His name was like another language – guaranteed conversation and broke racial and uncommunicative boundaries.

•    He broke every honourable record in music/entertainment
•    Biggest/most selling album of all time! – Thriller album – Guinness Book of Records
•    Biggest selling double LP – Dangerous album – Guinness Book of Records
•    He is the most successful artist of all time – Guinness Book of Records
•    Performed in front of the largest concert/arena crowd.
•    Biggest selling straight to video film – Moonwalker
•    Twice inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
•    Has received the most Grammy awards in one night – 8
•    Earned the highest royalty rate of any artist – 37% from album sales
•    Sold over 750 million records (It will hit 1 billion no doubt)
•    Was the first Black artist shown on MTV, which broke their racist barriers for not showing Black music. They had no choice because of his huge following.
•    He has the best video(s) of all time – Thriller, Beat it!, etc
•    He has influenced more singers and entertainers than anyone
•    He was a philanthropist raising millions for 39 charities he supported.
The above is just a small amount to his accolade of achievements in his short life. He will be breaking many more records posthumously.

Before I go, because just writing this is upsetting me, I want to share the most touching, yet slightly disturbing words, i’ve read by someone who was close to Michael his ex-wife Lisa Marie-Presley. Read her blog.

Lyrics of Wisdom by Michael Jackson:
“So tonight gotta leave that nine to five upon the shelf
And just enjoy yourself
Groove, let the madness in the music get to you
Life aint so bad at all
If you live it off the wall
Life aint so bad at all (live life off the wall)
Live your life off the wall (live it off the wall)”
Off the Wall – Michael Jackson

“There comes a time
When we head a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it’s time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all”
We are the World – Michael Jackson

“I’m Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It’s Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .”
Man in the Mirror – Michael Jackson
“I am tired of this devil
I am tired of this stuff
I am tired of this business
Sew when the
Going gets rough
I aint scared of
Your brother
I aint scared of no sheets
I aint scare of nobody
Girl when the
Goin gets mean”
Black or White – Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson I dedicate this blog to you. You are the first, last and everything of music and entertainment. May your soul rest peacefully. R.I.P.

Queen of the Crop – Wk 22 June

He did it! Chris Brown changed his plea from not guilty to guilty at the final stages of his trial in order to not face prison time. What a lucky sod! Just as I was looking forward to hearing Rihanna’s testimony his lawyers put forward a plea bargain. For months Chris has pleaded his innocence, but he knew if she talked he may have had to spend up to 5 years in the pen! Instead he is ordered to stay away from Rihanna (at least 50 yards, but 10 at industry events), sentenced with 5 years probation and 6 months community service (singing and dancing no doubt) and he must register in a domestic violence programme. I can now put that story to bed, finally. Listen to the verdict here.

I was in stitches the other day when I listened to the Charlamagne’s interview with Cassie, when he told her blatantly – and with truth – that she is talentless. Not only did he, but also the listeners. Unfortunately, one of her aids (Bad Boy Ent. or Atlantic Records rep) was fired for not stepping in and having the interview stopped. Personally Cassie and her peeps knew exactly what type of interview to expect from Charlamagne, so i think this is just another of Cassies cheap stunts to get in the public eye. The interview said it all about what the majority thinks of her. Listen for yourself

I was sickened to read about Shell’s (petrol company) involvement in the mass torture and execution to a Nigerian tribe called Ogoni tribe during the early 1990’s, due to their peaceful protests against Shell for causing environmental damage to the Niger Delta. Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr (who is the son of one of the murdered activist Ken Saro-Wiwa – a respected TV writer and businessman) has been fighting this lawsuit for over 10 years with Shell for sponsoring human rights abuses and conspiring with the Nigerian government in the arrest and execution of his father and eight other activists. Shell made an out of court settlement of 9.7 million to Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr who will divide the money with the families of the activists. And there are more lawsuits to follow. hell faces separate legal action in New York by another Ogoni man and Amsterdam by a group of environmental campaigners. What pees me off the most is that this measly settlement to Shell is a drop in the ocean. They earn more money in an hour for this to really hurt them, yet they drag it out for years. I will not be using them again for petrol.

I finally finished reading Cupcake Brown’s book ‘A piece of Cake’ on Sunday and feel gutted, even though I could have read it in one sitting. I am eager now to read another book. Any suggestions? Now that I have finished I will be writing to her to praise her for sharing her inspirational story to the world. I have never read a true story that has touched and inspired me so much. If you haven’t read this book you need to read/purchase NOW!

Anyway people, have a blessed week. I maybe too hungover to write the blog for Mon 29th June, as I will be partying hard all weekend including at Deeper Than Funk! on Friday 26th June @ Bobby Browns, B’ham, so hopefully ill be up and running on Tuesday. To all that will be attending don’t be afraid to show some love. And lets get Deeper than Funk!

See you all next week

Queen of the Crop – Wk 8th and 15th June

It’s been a fortnight since my last blog. Reason being too busy with not may hours in the day, plus, my marketing managers been a way for over 2 weeks, so I am wearing many job titles by doing about 5 peoples jobs – admin, accounts, PR/marketing, mentoring, event organising, etc. Anyway the main thing is that I’m back alive and kicking!

Weekend just gone I co-ordinated one of my best friends post wedding (already got married in South Africa), top West Midlands recording artist Shimm1 and his gorgeous wife Claire. It was a beautiful day, even though I was apprehensive earlier on in the week as I thought it would rain heavy like the weekend prior. But the Lord shone on us all and it was a successful an enjoyable day. I have never planned/co-ordinated a wedding before, and what hard work it is. I felt knackered after that and had to recuperate all day Sunday, bar cleaning-up. But it was all worth it for my good friends. CONGRATULATIONS again guys!x

On a sombre note, and an issue that has touched me is the unjust murder of 24 year old Julian Webster in Manchester on Friday 10th April. Julian’s sinister murder was committed by the bouncers/security of the Pitcher and Piano bar in Deansgate when he went back to the bar in order to look for his lost mobile phone. There are a number of unanswered questions to the actual events up to his death, which has been reported to have been between 4:15am and 4:40am when Police found his body slumped (in front of them) on the floor in a shadowy corner outside the bar after being released from the bouncers’ manhandled restraint clutches.

The two bouncer(s) involved aged 25 and 29 years old have been released on bail until June 29th 2009, but have NOT been charged with his murder, even though his body was found in their control. If anyone can remember being at the Pitcher and Piano during this period or has heard any news from the streets, please contact Greater Manchester Police on: 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers on: 0800 555 111

Let me bring some elation back to my blog. I felt elated and like a child again on the Sat 6th June – the weekend when in rained like a mother@%$‘*& – when I took my nephew and God Son to see Milkshake (anyone who is a parent and has a child under 10 years old should know about this children’s show) at the Alexandra Theatre. It was the biggest nursery i’ve ever been to. Lol But it was a lot of fun watching the children jump up and down non-stop throughout the show without catching breath or being sick.

I know this might sound a little mean to some of this artist fans, but do I care? Eeeeeeeeerrrrrr, no! Anyway, I was in stitches when I read that Omarion from B2K recently had a concert at the Stratford Rex in London and flopped – BIG TIME! Basically there must have been about 50 people there with an outstanding 2450 ‘who gives a damn about him’ absent. The joke was he had the cheek to keep these die hard fans waiting until 4am for his performance, which was deemed by them as pure c**p. He should have just cancelled it. Poor thing. To be fair it’s not all his fault. This is a true example to the differences between the UK and US market. I’m sure in the US he would have had at least 100 people. Lol! Only joking, Omarion.

What isn’t so funny is that it seems that Nas has left Kelis high and dry since their imminent divorce, and is reported saying she is broke – “I have run out of money.” My survival I based on (Nas’) will at this time. I do hope them two come up with an amicable settlement. Forget egos and your differences, there is a baby involved now!

It seems we may finally hear Rihanna’s version of events about the whole attack saga between her and Chris Brown when she is called to testify on Mon 22nd June. I hope they have this aired like the OJ Simpson trial. Mix-up agaaaaiiin!!

And it seems there’s more mix-up again in Lil’ Wayne’s world. I reported not too long ago that Lil Wayne got Lauren London pregnant (who is 6 months gone) whilst dating Nivea, and guess what? Nivea is now pregnant too! Is Lil’ Wayne trying to reach a target or something? Maybe he is trying to create his own musical dynasty. I wonder who’s next on his list to go up the duff.

Now I know I keep banging on about this, but it deserves the big up, because this will be the biggest and most glamorous club night that Birmingham has seen since the early noughties. Yes i’m talking about ‘Deeper Than Funk!’ So get your ticket(s), the best garments and shoes you have (unless you are going box and tag fresh – like me, but you can’t redeye because it will be designed only for me;), some money in your pocket and lets get Deeper Than Funk! on Friday 26th June @ Bobby Browns, Birmingham.

If you haven’t got your tickets you have just over a week left to touch base with me via email or Facebook.

See you all next week

 Stay blessed

Queen of the Crop – Wk 1st June

Greetings All
Welcome to the Queen’s Corner blog, where you’ll read about my weekly excursions and interesting topics in news, entertainment and comedy – with my point of view!

Summer is finally here. Hooray!! Hopefully, it will last long enough for me to get a tan – yes a tan! I maybe black, but i like being blacker. You know the saying, ‘the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice’. Ah tru dat, deh!

This Saturday Birmingham will be buzzing with creative talent as ‘We’ve Been Blessed’ comes to the Hippodrome for what is classed as the most creative, arts event of the year so far.
We’ve Been Blessed is a charity fundraising talent showcase (in aid of Letisha & Charlene Fund) that will feature a killer line-up to include the UK’s No.1 comedian Slim (host), comedian Kevin J, Gospel singer Guvna B, top urban recording artist Tinie Tempah, MOBO award winning Saxophonist Soweto Kinch, dance CRC and many, more talented acts to boot. Tickets start from a mere £7.50, so get them now as only 50 remain!

I would like to congratulate (even though it’s about bloody time) Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz for having hit the number 1 spot! Finally (but how long?) British Black music is getting recognised and financially pushed by the record companies and seen as a moneymaking commodity, instead of only being seen as underground. For example, since Dizzee’s chart topping success, established artists such as Franz Ferdinand are eager to work with him, giving Dizzee the option to break into another market. In this circumstance Dizzee has turned the proposal down. I’m sure that before this he would have said yes – just for the exposure. Now he does not (really) need to. It just shows that once you understand the difference between making music as a hobby to making music as a business, you will reap the benefits. It’s not about selling out. It’s about reaching the mass market. Basically, the marketing strategy is the key! So always put money aside and the right plan perfecting that.
I didn’t like Lady Gaga at first, as I found her to be a cheap imitation of Róisín Murphy from Moloko. She is the original fashion eccentric queen. Anyway, the more I see/hear her interviews I am being to warm to her and understand her wacky personality and creative demeanour. I think she is a little misunderstood. Just listen to her views on sex, music and fame.

Did anyone see Eminem have Brüno (Sacha Baron Cohen alter ego) sit on his face – upside down, mind you? (Click here to see). And then see Eminem walk out all vex (supposedly) with D12. All I can say great publicity stunt. Either that or it was payback time for Eminem. After all he has made his career for constantly dissing people. He should have farted in his face. That would have been hilarious.

It’s good to hear that the top ‘Man’s’ of Hip-Hop Methodman & Redman are back collaborating together with a hot new track ‘Dangerous MCees’ and new album, ‘Blackout 2’. Well worth a buy.

Now I was truly distressed to hear about the Air France Boeing 228 plane being lost in transit to Paris from Rio de Janeiro. Image that, off the radar. No one can locate your whereabouts. It doesn’t even bear thinking about.
My sincere prayers and thoughts go out to those on the plane and their loved ones. I truly hope they find some – if not one – survivor.
I am a frequent flyer of Air France and I must admit it has put a little fright in me since this incident. I know this is not an every day occurrence and the ratio of this happening maybe a billion to one, but I am one of those nervous flyers as it is, regardless to the fact that I am a frequent flyer. So I think I may take the train next time im going to Paris – Not!

Before I wrap this up the ‘Deeper Than Funk!’ club night is just over 3 weeks away from its launch on Friday 26th June @ Bobby Browns, Birmingham. So if you haven’t got your tickets, what are you waiting for? Drop me a line, email or Facebook event to get your tickets. I only have 30 tickets left! Be about it don’t hear about it.

See you all next week

Stay blessed

Queen of the Crop Blog – Wk 25th May

Greetings All

Welcome to the Queen’s Corner blog, where you’ll read about my weekly excursions and interesting topics in news, entertainment and comedy – with my point of view!

Another week has past by as quickly as it takes Usain Bolt to win a race. Time waits for no one. And is it me or does a day seem like a week and a week seem like a month? It’s just hard to believe that next week will mark being half way through the year! Time waits for no one!

So with that in mind, last week I put a lot of my time perfecting a project I am working on called Rise 2 the Top!, which aims to provide free public relations (PR) and marketing services to 19-24 years old through means of self development.

I anticipate having this project up and running by September 2009, so I am working round the clock to make this a possibility.

The project idea came about because for the past 2 years young people have approached me on numerous occasions asking for advice/consultancy and assistance towards a project, business or music related project utilising PR/Marketing. And within this period for the past year and a half a month has not gone by where a university pre/post graduates, college students, budding entrepreneurs, etc, throughout the UK has contacted me for the same service.

And with me currently mentoring 5 young individuals using this process, I have seen them progress to either employment, further education or them setting up their own business, hence why I am very confident that this project works.

So if you have a business idea, product or service, music or artist you want to publicise/market in any sector as well as music and entertainment, then this is definitely for you. Stay tuned to Queen of the Crop© website or email me for more info.

I had an interesting meeting with my Real Deal Comedy Jam team, with the main focus being the Real Deal Comedy Jam September tour (Birmingham, London, Manchester and Bristol), and our up-coming club night event meeting ‘Deeper Than Funk!’ on Saturday 26th June @ Bobby Browns, Birmingham.

We were discussing and pitching ideas for the advert for Deeper Than Funk! when we came up with an idea that includes me as the main voice over. Now, for those who do/don’t know me I am shy. You may not believe it but it’s true, even for those who have seen me in my work mode and are saying ‘yeah right, whatever!’ because for someone in my profession you cannot be shy. Anyway, I am. So for me to do this voice over is quite daunting, but i’m excited, as the concept is hot!! I cannot give the concept away, you’ll have to wait and keep a look out and your ears alert for the advert link right here on the RDCJ website, on Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, etc, and let me know what you think.

Now what has hit my last nerve or has been of interest to me in the news last week. Mmmmm.

I will start with my darlin’ ‘Hot Boy’ Lil’ Wayne. It has been alleged that he has got the beautiful Lauren London pregnant and they’re engaged! Lauren is alleged to be about 5 months pregnant, even though not too long ago Lil’ Wayne announced his love for long time on-off relationship with R&B singer Nivea. Who knows how this is going to pan out, because not to long ago Lil’ Wayne got one of his groupies pregnant. Who does he really love?

Speaking about love it seems their maybe love out there for Rihanna after Chris Brown. It is claimed that Rihanna has found love with up-coming rapper star Drake, who declared his love on radio by saying “Shoutout to Rihanna. I love you.” He has denied any affair, but what is that all about? I get it, publicity!

As for Chris Brown he can’t get a break. He is currently sporting a blackeye and getting slack for allegedly leaking nude photos of Rihanna.

Even though I did not condone his alleged attack against his ex, damn, he needs a break, because right now he is blacklisted in the music/entertainment world, and no matter what he is a talented individual. In saying that, there will always be a price to pay for such despicable behaviour.

I went to see the film Angels and Demons (the follow up to the Da Vinci Code) with a friend and had a discussion afterwards about the impact religion has on people and some of their deceit and lies especially from the Catholic religion, and them knowing about it.

My friend was saying that, for example, even though the Pope and other heads of Catholic religion know they are preaching lies to people, it was the believers fault in allowing the religion to burgeon instead of seeking the truth and abiding by that.

And I was saying, ‘I agree’. But, it’s not as easy as that because they have been psychologically condition for generations and have become ignorant to the point where they deem a lie as the truth.

Furthermore… I better watch what I say because this is a controversial topic, so I won’t even further voice my personal views. This is the web! Need to say more.

Let me know your views – anonymously if need be:)

And with that said i’m out, until next week.

Stay blessed

Queen of the Crop – Wk 18th May

Queen_of_the_Crop_LogoGreetings All
Welcome to the Queen’s Corner blog, where you’ll read about what’s interesting in the news, entertainment and comedy – with my point of view!

I know, I know, I know it’s been some time since i’ve written my blog. Where have I been, right?!

None of your business! Only joking. lol! It’s just the same ol’, same ol’ me being busy doing numerous things, such as working on developing my up-coming project (I will fill you all in soon), securing venues for the Real Deal Comedy Jam’s September Tour (Birmingham, London, Manchester and Bristol), working on J.E.P Entertainment’s club night event ‘Deeper Than Funk!’ on Friday 26th June @ Bobby Browns, Birmingham (put that in your diary), Etude et revision de Français pour exams (studying and revising French for exams), among other stuff. So I hope you understand my reasons why, and I will try not to be away so long next time. As if you care! As if anyone reads my blog. Drop me an email if you do. lol!

Last Saturday I got back from Paris having spent an enjoyable and productive 7 days of networking, partying, shopping, eating – a lot, drinking – a lot, but in moderation, sight seeing, meeting up with friends, and most importantly improving my French.

What I most enjoy about Paris is their apparel, food and social life.
The clothes, to me, are the best in the world. Some of my best shoes, bags and dresses come from there – one offs! I mean, I could literally go bankrupt if I lived there, because the way they design clothes – cut, fabric and style is second to none and every dime would go on them. I had to walk sometimes with my hands covering my eyes, because I would have maxed out my credit card 10 times over on shoes and bangs alone. So warning ladies (and guys too) don’t bring less money, always bring a little extra than normal and stick to your limit, even though it will be hard! lol! A good tip for a place to shop is a place called Le Central Marais.

Beyonce was also in Paris whilst I was there. She was performing at the Palais Omnisports, so there were a few parties going on in aid of her that week.
I went to a few clubs the night she was there and after parties, most notably Baron and loco. For example, Baron is a place I would describe as a celeb fest, artsy, IT crowd type of place. Its small, yet intimate. But what I liked about it, on this particular night that is, was that the whole bar was free! Any drink, with no limit – till the bar runs dry, that is! So I was drinking top shelf drinks and a few bottles of Krug champagne. I drank so much champagne that night and during my trip I am sick of it. You see drinking champagne to the French is nothing. Like walking. But for me, no more champers for a loooonng while. I need a break from it.
In between the partying and shopping I did manage to meet up with a few people from the French Music Bureau about working with aspiring and established artists. I anticipate to spend more time in Paris within the next few months. I will keep you informed on my excursions.

Moving on from my French expedition, to what’s been going on in the news over that past few weeks.
I might as well start with what you all must be aware and seething by now about the thieving scum – I would use another word but I won’t – we call government (yes I said it, what!?), who have been using our tax money (I knew it was going somewhere, cause it certainly is not going towards the problem with unemployment, for example) to better their lives whilst we struggle through this economic crisis – they caused! Lets move on swiftly before… Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out.

Katie Price & Peter Andre split. I didn’t see that one happening so soon. I did see it happening, though – with Peter dumping her.
I’m upset it’s happened because I like them both, well I use to like Katie. It was only a matter of time before he dumped her ass for making him feel like he hasn’t got any balls. Basically a p***y!
It is also alleged that she is/was in love with another man. Who knows, who cares! In saying that, i’m kind of thinking this is some publicity stunt. Firstly to divorce is too strong, unless they were separated before we knew anything. And secondly, I am just waiting for his new single to be announced for release. Lets see which one proves right.

Eminem is back to his same old ways that catapulted him to fame – dissing people. He has gone back to dissing Mariah Carey (previous diss was in 2005), yet this time he has a whole song dedicated to her called ‘Bagpipes from Baghdad’, because he is still peed that she denied never going out with him. He also mentioned Nick Cannon’s name. Who told him to do that? So naturally Nick responded with a blog and his own track.
To me Eminem is tired. After such a highly anticipated comeback from so-called retirement (he should have stayed retired) this is what he comes back with! It just shows his life is so dull and he has nothing to write about anymore, plus he still hasn’t got over Maria; whether they were together or not. The point is he isn’t with her now, so get over it and move on. We can only sit back and listen/watch the outcome to this.

In between all this madness I am assisting with promoting a online and mobile video business directory called GeeWee TV and a business book called Black Caribbean Enterprises. GeeWee.tv allows you to search for and view the goods and services that you want, in an intimate, interactive and cost-effective way. And the best part its free to register! So register now to get your business noticed.
The Black Caribbean Enterprises is a book to be owned or read by any would-be entrepreneurs, professionals, educational institutions and agencies interested in multi-sectoral studies.
BCE is an invaluable resource packed with abundant case studies, rich analysis and academic forthrightness. To know more and to purchase for only £20.00 (RRP £40.00) got to Queen of the Crop©.
And as i’m talking about books, I am also reading, and nearly finished, a very inspirational book (Memoir) called ‘A Piece of Cake’ by Cupcake Brown. This bestselling book is based on a true story about a beloved daughter to abused foster child to crack addict. This is truly a heat-wrenching read, yet uplifting. Reading the book shows you that no matter what negativity/badness goes on in your life, as long as you are still breathing you ca accomplish anything. Not so much accomplish, but get your life together and be content. Another definite must read or buy.
And on that note I will leave with some words of wisdom and catch you all next week.
Have a blessed and productive week.
